Children are assessed on their ability at the end of each term for progression on to the next level. Achievement is rewarded through the ASA awards scheme.
The programme is managed by our lessons co-ordinator - Chris Stride - together with a team of dedicated swimming teachers. They are ably assisted by some of our current senior swimmers who have competed at County level and above.

More About The Learn to Swim Programme
- Lessons are 30 minutes long.
- Lessons are booked and paid for in advance
- Maximum of 8 swimmers to a class with a qualified swim instructor and assistants.
- The focus of the lessons will be to instil confidence and a love of the water. It is found that this is essential and assists with progress later on - teachers will be aware that children will progress at different speeds.
- All levels are catered for from non-swimmers progressing through all the stages of the asa National Plan for Teaching Swimming.
- On completion of the stages, swimmers may be ready to move into the club’s Flipper or Otter squads. Other options are available (see below) and will be discussed with you by our Lessons Co-ordinator, Chris Stride.
- Of the options available (by prior arrangement) are 1-2-1, 1-2-2 lessons and distance swimming to further improve fitness and stamina. Further information on these options may be obtained from the Lessons Co-ordinator.
*Half Price Lessons!
If you find that 1 lesson per week is not enough for your child you could always sign up for a second course of lessons for half price! We will accommodate your child where there is space whilst making sure no class is bigger than 8 children. The second lesson can follow the first (so your child has a one hour lesson) or it can occur in a different venue at a different time. Contact Chris Stride for more information - contact details below.
For your information, we are also able to offer a 10% discount for the third child and above family member on the normal lesson payment.
For more detailed information on class availability please contact Chris Stride - telephone 07936 195013 or email learn2swim@wcpsc.org.uk who will be very happy to help accommodate your child / children. Alternatively come along to one of our sessions and speak to a member of our staff.
