Getting Involved with WCPSC

As with most clubs and in addition to the Committee Members our continuing success is dependent upon a host of other volunteers to assist with the day-to-day administration of the club.

Galas, Open Meets and Championships

All galas, licensed meets and Championships require qualified officials to time, judge, start and referee all races. Additionally volunteers are required to act as competitors' stewards, sell programmes, run a raffle, provide refreshments etc. The County has a list of people who are qualified and voluntarily give up their time to travel to events outside of club events. They ensure the event is run efficiently and comply with the rules of the asa.

StopwatchAlthough not everyone will want to become a qualified official, voluntary help is always required from within the club to help run our own swimming galas and to travel with gala teams to judge and timekeep. Each team will also require a Team Manager and chaperones - we are fortunate to have 10 asa qualified Team Managers.

If you have not been involved in helping at galas, you would usually be partnered with another parent to introduce you to the job. We realise that it's not always possible for people to help out at every event, but it would be great if enough parents could spread the workload around. And it gives you the chance to get better acquainted with your child's sport.

If you would like get involved, contact the club or committee member.

Note: you must be CRB checked before you are allowed on poolside
